HSN STANDING COMMITTEES
HSN members who are interested in attending or serving on any of these committees should email HSN or call (415) 668-0444 for more information.
Steering Committee:
The Steering Committee meets each month to provide strategic leadership and develop HSN policies. These meetings are open to any current HSN member organization.
Economic, Political and People Power Committee:
The purpose of this Committee is to reaffirm our founding missions as defenders of the social contract, incubators of civic renewal, and agents of social change.
Communications Committee:
The Committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month from 12 pm to 1 pm. The goal of the Communications Committee is to develop and implement media, social media and public outreach strategies and messages that:
- Raise the visibility and profile of health and human service nonprofits as essential service providers
- Increase public support for funding that enhances the sustainability of nonprofits
- Raise the profile of nonprofit workers and support for better wages
- Promote meaningful structural change that goes beyond short-term relief
- Support both short and longterm policy goals for our sector
Racial Equity Committee:
The goals of the Racial Equity Committee are to:
- Infuse budget advocacyand policywork with a racial equity lens
- Ensure additional funding and contract opportunities are available to organizations that serve primarilyBIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color)
- Build the racial equity muscle among HSN members (including coaching and training)
- Broaden HSN’s membership and outreach in disproportionately underfunded areas, particularly the Bayview
- Ensure the membership of HSN reflects the needs of the community by increasing HSN membership of BIPOC-led providers
