Sanctuary City
In January 2017, President Trump issued an Executive Order empowering the federal government to withhold federal funding from sanctuary jurisdictions such as San Francisco. The City and County of San Francisco filed a lawsuit seeking a preliminary injunction to block the implemention of this Order. In March, HSN and 12 other nonprofit associations filed an amicus curiae brief supporting the City's lawsuit, and citing real and imminent harm to nonprofit organizations, our clients and the communities we serve. We thank the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley and Cooley LLP for their pro bono legal assistance.
